At Evolve USA we love and have a deep respect for the ocean and everything in it. We also respect and thank all those that came before, including the ancient cultures who first began spearfishing for all of us to follow. These days, many of us in Hawaiʻi started learning to dive at a young age with a three-prong (a polespear) and a short list from our parents and uncles: which fish we could take, how big they had to be, what was in season and how many. We learned those rules on the reef long before we ever used a speargun. Following them keeps fish on the reef and feeds our ʻohana (families) for the next generations. Evolve strives to continue this process of evolution with innovative new equipment and technology. With some of the world’s best testing grounds at our doorstep in Kailua-Kona, we are doing our best to help Evolve spearfishing and freediving.
